* Secy. State nominee.
* She addressed the problems in Iraq and some of the other problems.
2. What is the Troubled Asset Relief Program? Why did President-elect Barack Obama meet with Senate Democrats about the program yesterday? What concerns have lawmakers raised about the TARP?
* TARP is what the 7 billion dollar bailout plan called. They meet yesterday to discus how they should spend the rest of the money.
* The lawmakers are concerned how the treasury spent the first 3.5 billion dollars
3. What was the federal budget deficit for the 2008 fiscal year? How does this compare to the budget deficit for the 2009 fiscal year to date? What prediction have experts made for the deficit by the end of the fiscal year?
* The federal budget deficit was 455 billion dollars in 2008. 485 billion dollars for 2009.
*1.2 trillion by the end of the fiscal year
4. According to the report, which U.S. leaders have expressed admiration for President Abraham Lincoln? Why do you think that they chose Lincoln as the source of their inspiration?
* The U.S. leader that admires Lincoln is Barack Obama, and George Bush, and even Richard Nixon
* I think they chose Lincoln because he was a great president, and because of his speech
5. What are some of the images that come to your mind when you think of President Lincoln? Would you categorize him as an inspirational figure? Why or why not?
* Some of the images that come to mind is his tall black hat that he always wore, and the penny, and 5 dollar
*Maybe to some people but not for me.

* Some characteristics I look in for a role model is leadership, admiration, and success
*I think it could be Bill Clinton, only because he guided the U.S. to a positive future until Bush came into office
7. According to the program: What proposal has the National Safety Council (NSC) made regarding cell phone use? What evidence has the organization offered to support the proposal?
* The NSC proposed to ban all cell phone use while driving a car
* The evidence they have gathered is that 6% of auto accidents were caused when the driver is using a cell phone
8. How has the cell phone industry reacted to the Safety Council's proposal? What arguments has the industry made in response to the NSC?
* They are upset with the proposal. Their arguments are that people could use their cell phone for a short period of time.
9. Do you think that the Safety Council's proposal is a good idea? Why or why not?
* I do think it’s a good idea because there are too many accidents
10. If you drive, do you ever use your cell phone while driving? If so, have you ever found it to be a distraction? How so? Besides cell phone use, can you think of other activities that can cause distractions when someone is behind the wheel?
* I don’t drive so I wouldn’t know. Some other distractions are maybe a video playing, or loud music
